Collection Schedule and Fees

NON-RESIDENTIAL RECYCLERS:
are required to register 48 hours in advance of the
collection event with the Allegany County Department of Public
Works/Recycling Coordinator/301-777-5933 E 210.
RESIDENTIAL RECYCLERS:
are not required to register in advance of the collection event.
WHAT’S WHAT?
Residential:
any type of home – single family home, apartment,
condo, duplex, etc.
Non-Residential:
businesses, institutions, commercial/industrial operations, etc.

FEE: Residential Recyclers Pay
Per Item

Free: telephones/cell phones,
answering machines, pagers, and individual computer components
(mouse, speaker, etc.), compact disc players, digital
calculators, digital cameras, uninterruptible power
supplies/surge protectors

$1.00: computer monitors, computer
printers, laptop/notebook computers, fax machines, scanners
,VCRs, tape players, camcorders, stereo electronics (no wooden
speakers), all radios, electric typewriters, word processors,
transparency makers, all adding machines
-
$2.00: table top televisions,
complete computer systems (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse,
speaker), photocopiers (table top models), microwave ovens

$5.00: televisions (big screen and
floor models), mainframe computers/servers, photocopiers (floor
models)
FEE: Non-Residential Recyclers
Pay Per Pound
Allegany County Government
contracts with an electronics recycling company to recycle the
electronic items. The recycling company charges Allegany County
Government a per pound fee. In turn, the County charges all
non-residential recyclers the same per pound fee the County
pays to the electronics recycling company.
NON-RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING
REGULATIONS
Allegany County Government and
Penn-Mar Recycling Center do not supply any manpower. A
forklift operator will take the pallets from the back of trucks.
Non-residential entities are responsible for
delivering/handling/unloading electronics themselves.

All electronics are to be
delivered on pallets.

The maximum size for each
pallet is 42 inches x 48 inches in terms of floor space.

The minimum weight for each
pallet is 800 pounds.
-
Each pallet must be shrink
wrapped.
-
Only one partial pallet is
accepted from each non-residential recycler at every collection;
full pallets are preferred.
