RECYCLING EVENT
ELECTRONICS COLLECTION
The next electronics collection
event will be Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Allegany County
Government Office Complex, 701 Kelly Road – Rear Parking Lot,
Cumberland, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All may participate –
residents, businesses, institutions, commercial/industrial
operations, etc.
Allegany County Government
encourages residents of Allegany County to take advantage of this
recycling event. Institutional, Commercial and Industrial must
pre-register at least 48 hours in advance of the event with
Allegany County Department of Public Works - Recycling 301-777-5933
X-210 and will be charged the same fee per pound ($0.26) the
County is assessed by the vendor. These agencies must supply
manpower to handle and unload electronics. Pallets must be
shrink-wrapped, no larger than 42” x 48” and weigh at least 800 lbs
each. One partial pallet is acceptable.
Residential Recyclers Pay Per Item
FREE:
telephones, cell phones, pagers, and selected
computer components (keyboard, mouse, speaker, wiring), cameras,
calculators, compact disc players, uninterruptible power
supplies/surge protectors
$1.00:
VCRs, tape players, camcorders, radios, answering
machines, electric typewriters, word processors, transparency makers
$2.00:
computer monitors, CPUs, laptop/notebook computers,
copiers/printers (table top models), fax machines, scanners, adding
machines, stereo electronics (no wooden speakers)
$3.00:
complete computer systems (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker)
$5.00:
televisions smaller than 32 inches diagonal,
microwave ovens
$10.00:
televisions 32 or more inches diagonal, all console
televisions
$15.00:
mainframe computers/servers, photocopiers (floor
models).
