Department of Emergency Services

The Department of Emergency Services has four divisions.

911 Joint Communications Division

Answers 911 emergency calls and dispatches appropriate help – fire, EMS, police.

Emergency Management Division

Provides county coordination of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation of man made and natural disasters.

Emergency Management consists of:

Special Operations: Hazmat, Collapse, Confined Space, High Angle, Swift Water, and Incident Management Teams
Operations: Facilities and Fleet Maintenance, Special Projects.
Communications: Logistics

Emergency Medical Services Division

Manages the county’s response for emergency medical services, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Deals with dogs and other animals according to the Code of Allegany County, Maryland, Chapter 117.
