Responsibilities


The Tax and Utility Bills Office bills and collects real estate, personal property, corporation, and public utility accounts for Allegany County, the State of Maryland, three municipalities, and 30 special taxing districts.
  1. Bay Restoration (Flush Tax)

    The State of Maryland established the (Chesapeake) Bay Restoration Fund. The State requires Allegany County to collect mandated fees, commonly called the flush tax.

  2. Enroll in Auto Pay

    For the convenience of individuals and businesses, all public water and public sewer bills collected by Allegany County may be automatically paid by being deducted from a personal or business checking account.

    Allegany County offers online payment options for accounts receivable invoices and real estate/property tax bills.
